Oz Forensics, a Global Leader in Identity Fraud Prevention, Achieves Perfect Score in Biometric Attack Testing

Software created by Oz Forensics has passed the most rigorous global testing standard for deterrence of biometric attacks with a perfect score.

What Are Biometric Attacks?

Biometrics use biological identifiers (fingerprints, faces, voices etc.) to verify identity, which provides an enhanced layer of protection relative to question and answer-based authentication.

However, attackers seek to defeat biometric authentication by using tools such as 3D-printed masks. These attacks are in turn defeated by the practice of Liveness detection, technology which discerns between live images and digital reproductions of faces.

How Oz Forensics Created a Market-Leading Liveness Solution

Oz Forensics, a global Liveness detection provider, submitted its biometric identification software for compliance testing to the ISO 30107-3 Level 2 PAD (presentation attack detection) standard. The testing was completed by iBeta Quality assurance.

The result was 100% detection accuracy.

All 1,000 attempted biometric spoof attacks were detected by the Oz Forensics’ software. iBeta testers applied Presentation Attack Instrument Species three times each. The list of attack methods included latex masks, silicone masks, CrazyTalk, 2D photo with transparency and 3D curved photo.

During testing, iBeta was unable to gain unauthorized access with 150 presentation attacks (PAs) using all five species, producing a Presentation Attack success rate of 0%.

Oz Forensics’ product suite is designed for prevention of deepfake and biometric spoofing attacks with Liveness detection. iBeta’s testing provided clear evidence that this technology is performing up to the most rigorous industry standards – a critical element in helping organizations operate more securely and efficiently.

“Oz Liveness technology allows end users to verify their identity within one second and without any unnecessary actions, which enables our customers to onboard up to 200% more consumers remotely,” said Artem Gerasimov, CEO of Oz Forensics.

A Self-Teaching Detection Technology

Oz Liveness AI algorithm is trained on hundreds of thousands of attacks, which allows it to track dozens of parameters from video streams. Oz Forensics is working closely with 3D mask manufacturers, constantly training its system and improving its detection accuracy with new samples from mask manufacturers. This technology is widely used in FinTech, where remote customer onboarding is essential for growth.

Oz Forensics’ testing score mirrors the real-world performance of its products, according to Gerasimov.

“Based on our customers’ feedback, Oz Forensics software hasn’t missed any real biometric attack,” he said.
